reaching for the stars by dojoh reaching for the stars by dojoh
i took this picture on a sessoin with *r4tti and =sputnikpixel.

it reminds me on mankinds attempt to reach the stars. to build even bigger telescopes to get a deeper view throught the univers. but somehow its just a little bit we can "enlight" a very small part of it.

hope you like it and get my point.

full view is very recommended.

speaking of that... do u prefer sigma or nikon when it comes to brands? i am thinking of trying it out..

well. depends on what you need.
nikon lenses are a bit sharper in general but also more expensive.
sigma lenses might vary, you be lucky and get a good one. but sometimes there should be some quite bad ones. but they are much cheaper.

as i wantet to get a wide angle lens for my analoge camera the sigma 12-24 was the only possible one. by then there was no nikon 12-24 full frame.
well now there is, but the nikon is about 1600€ and the sigma about 600€
so well ;) i would stick to the sigma ;o)

so... would u say its better if I buy my in the store, vs online in case I have to exchange the bad one...
I was thinking of getting their 18-200mm lens for my D80. replacing 18-55mm Nikon lens that came with the camera.

well, here in germany we got a law, that allows us to send back stuff bought online within 14 days without reason and get back the money. don't know what about that in the usa. i guess store would be better.

about the lens: depends on what you want. the quality of that "superzoom" lens is not that good in general. but if you just want to take a picture here and than and don't want to print them that big, its ok.

i would prefere fixed focal length lenses. but that is becouse i'm not that kind of a "dynamic" photographer. ;)

fixed won't work for me... I want to experiment with angles and focal length. i am just starting to learn the true art of photography...
and no. no plans to print anything any time soon. however, I would love to take sharper images... but at the same time, do not want to spend a lot of money as this is just a hobby at this state.

well if you'Re jsut getting into photography i guess some zoom lens is best for you. perhaps lateron you can buy better lenses.
and about sharper images: i guess if you do not want to print them, and just want to show them like 1000x700px (or something like that) its not the lens that makes that pictures crisp but the sharpening proccess in photoshop.(in german the filter i would suggest is "unscharf masikieren" wich would be something like unsharp mask).
so i guess the zoom lens is just fine. :D

Simply breathtaking. Soft blue carpets, gorgeously orange pillars and rough, crackly blue tiles above.

And the angle, it's a great addition. I'm not sure whether to think the white circles are above or below the person when they stand there.

Once again, just an amazing piece of photography, great job!
